Today the global beauty industry is a $532 billion business. The U.S. currently is the world’s largest beauty market, with about 20% share, followed by China (13%) and Japan (8%). While projections for growth vary, most agree it will continue to advance at a 5%-to-7% compound-annual-growth-rate to reach or exceed $800 billion by 2025.

Even if the world economy dips between now and then, the beauty business is more likely than other discretionary categories to hold its own.

I began my career path over 30 years ago. I have explored many different directions within the cosmetology profession. I have a passion for the industry and love helping people feel good about themselves and help them look and feel the best they can.

I worked many years behind the chair and also owned my own salon for many years. I choose to explore education within the field. I always found that what you learned in beauty school is not enough to ensure success. In an effort to support the profession I employed several positions such as a platform artist, master colorist, sales representative, a national trainer with a focus on advanced cutting skills and a focus on customer service. I also served as a general manager for a fortune 500 company which allowed me to focus on staff and franchisee development, all areas of human resources, responsible for the bottom line and promote growth through extensive marketing plans.

I bring all of this to the school in an effort to give students a look into the profession and decide is this the path for me. I will work individually to help them prepare for the career path of their choice. Come check out the world of beauty and see how you can make a difference in people’s lives.
